Privacy Statement
Congress passed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, July 2001, to help
consumers better understand how the privacy of their financial information
is protected. This new federal law requires Better Business Services
Inc./TaxLogic and other companies that offer financial products
to provide information about their existing privacy practices. Here's
how your privacy is protected when you use the TaxLogic web site.
This service is provided to you by TaxLogic a wholly owned subsidiary
of Better Business Services Inc.
When you choose to use the TaxLogic web site, you provide us
with personal information about your financial and tax position,
such as the names and social security numbers of yourself, dependents
and spouse. In addition you provide us with information about your
sources of taxable and non taxable income, including but not limited
to the names of your employers, addresses and federal identification
numbers of various institutions with whom you do business. In order
to deliver the online tax preparation service offered by TaxLogic,
and to provide you updated information whenever you use the service,
the TaxLogic computer servers collect and store the personal information
that you provide to us, as well as correspondence between yourself
and the preparer of the return and the completed tax return. We
call this information “Account Information”.
We do not disclose nor sell Account Information about our customers
or former customers to outside companies or third parties, or permit
outside companies or third parties to use Account Information, except
as necessary to provide our service or as required by law (such
as complying with a subpoena or court order).
We restrict access to Account Information about our customers
or former customers to those employees and contractors who need
to know this information in order to provide the TaxLogic web service
to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards
that comply with applicable federal standards to guard all such
information.
In addition to privacy, we believe that the security of your
confidential information is of paramount importance and consequently
utilize the most strict encryption software available.
If you want to have your information permanently deleted from
the TaxLogic servers send an email to privacy@taxlogic.com
and request for your information to be removed permanently.

a financial services company, we believe that the privacy and security
of your data are essential. Personal information you give us is
handled with care.
Why
is Better Business Services Inc. / TaxLogic safe?
- Personal information: We will not sell, reveal or
share your personal information to third parties, except with
your permission or as authorized by law.

/ TaxLogic is an independent tax preparer.
- Secure technology: We use SSL encryption, which
is the industry standard for secure data transfer software, to
ensure data you transmit through the Internet is protected against
unauthorized access.

What personally identifiable information of mine
is collected?
Better Business Services Inc. / TaxLogic (“TaxLogic”)
collects information from you upon registration. At this point,
you provide us with your name, zip code and e-mail address. Upon
successful completion of registration, you are taken to the service
where you will enter information about your gender, date of birth,
demographic information necessary to accurately complete your tax
return that includes, but may not be limited to annual income, state
of residence, marital status and your individual financial accounts.
If you indicate you have a spouse or partner, his/her personal and
financial account information will also be requested. If you ask
questions or require clarification about issues through the web
site, we keep a log of the advice that we provide to you in our
records.
We ask for your credit card and billing information
for payment of our services. We also offer direct debt of your bank
account and may request the routing and account information necessary
to transfer our fee. Billing information is used to verify your
credit card information. We use Surepay to bill your credit card
for the preparation of your tax return. Surepay (www.surepay.com) is a well-known company
that specializes in secure, online credit card processing.
For some users, Forgot Password is available.
These forms ask for some personal information, such as your name
and email address. This information is necessary and used only to
provide the service you are requesting.
Occasionally, we may also conduct surveys. In
this case, we would collect the information you provide us from
answering the survey questions.
Furthermore, we collect data in our log files.
We collect your IP address, browser type, domain name, and we log
the length of time of your visit and the number of times you visit
and subscribe to our service. We use this information to update
the status of your return preparation. In addition we use this information
to gather aggregate demographic information that helps us to provide
you with the services and information that are relevant to you.
We keep this information for our internal use; we do not share it
with others.
Who is collecting my information?
When you are on the TaxLogic site and provide
us with your personal information, you can be sure that only Better
Business Services Inc. the 100% owner of TaxLogic collects this
information, unless it is explicitly stated otherwise.
How is my information used?
Your personal information is maintained by TaxLogic to provide
you with the services you have requested (state and federal income
tax preparation) and to fulfill our legal and regulatory requirements.
TaxLogic’s primary goal is to offer you a private, professional
and customized experience on our Web site.
The demographic information we collect is used in aggregated
form and not linked to any of your personal information. We use
this information for our market research purposes.
With whom is my information shared?
TaxLogic will not sell, reveal or share any of
your personal information to others except in the following limited
circumstances:
- We need to share your information with contractors who work on our
behalf to provide a product or service you have requested or to
maintain or service your account. For example:
We contract out certain programming that would require a contractor
to have access to your information in order to correct a bug or
fix a software related issue.
- We are required or authorized by law to disclose your information
(for example, to comply with a subpoena or regulatory requirement,
or to protect against fraud or illegal activity or for the safety
of customers and their property).
What are cookies and how are they used?
Cookies are small amounts
of data that are sent to your browser from a Web server and stored
on your computer's hard drive. Our cookies are used to keep you
logged in. This means you can go from a secure area (such as your
tax preparation interview) to a public area (such as the tax information)
and back to a secure area without having to login again.
Our cookies are not used to track you through any other websites
or exchange information with any other companies.
If you do not wish
to receive cookies, most Internet browsers allow you to turn cookies
off so that you do not receive them. If you do turn your cookies
off, you will still be able to use our whole Web site.
What choices are available to me regarding collection,
use and distribution of my information?
At TaxLogic, we would like to give you control
over your account information. On occasion, we may use your e-mail
address to inform you of products, services or advice that we believe
may be of interest to you. If you do not wish to receive future
communications from us you can be removed from our mailing list.
You can also contact TaxLogic at support@taxlogic.com, and we will ensure
that you do not receive further e-mails from us.
However,
even if you do choose not to receive e-mails from us, we may be
required to send you an e-mail in an event where we must comply
with our legal and regulatory obligations.
Furthermore,
you can change your personal information anytime when you are logged
into TaxLogic. For more information on how to change or correct
your information, see the next section, "How can I change my
personal information?"
How can I change my personal information?
After logging into TaxLogic, you have the option
to change your information. For any information you cannot change
in that section or if you are having problems changing your information,
you can contact TaxLogic through e-mail at: support@taxlogic.com
to correct your information.
How will you notify me of changes in the use
of my personal information?
If we are going to use your personally identifiable
information in a manner different from that stated at the time of
collection we will notify you via email. You will have a choice
as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner.
In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices
that do not affect user information already stored in our database,
we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users
of the change. In some cases where we post the notice we will also
email users notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
